Hello,
My name is Neil Frey. I am an autonomous practice Nurse Practitioner, specializing in adult and gerontological care serving Brevard County. I am the founder of Glomar Medical, which is a primary care practice specializing in and serving the geriatric population who reside within assisted living, independent living, and memory care facilitates throughout our Space Coast. I moved to Florida in 2000, after serving in the United States Army as an airborne combat engineer. I am married to wife Michele, and have two daughters; Taylor and Samantha. My hobbies include fishing, and restoring classic cars.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have been married for 13 years to my wife Michele; who is a native Floridian. We have two daughters, Taylor; 18, and Samantha; 16 Taylor is a student at FIT, majoring in engineering, and Samantha has her sights set on UF to study biology when she graduates from Heritage High. We moved to the Space Coast in 2000, where we quickly fell in love with the area. Both Michele and I love to enjoy the beautiful beaches and lakes the Space Coast offers.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am an autonomous practice, Nurse Practitioner, specializing in Gerontology. I serve as the primary care provider for many of our residents who reside in assisted living, independent living, and memory care settings throughout the Space Coast. The population that I serve IS the Greatest Generation. These individuals are so wise and teach me so much everyday. Because I am unique in my practice and only focus on the needs of geriatrics, my patients often have a higher quality of life and are able to enjoy their family and loved ones for many more years.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Long Doggers if I’m just Chilling, Amici’s if we want a nice night out; their truffles sacchettini  is to die for!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community? And what brought you here?
I came to the Space Coast in 2000. I came here to become a fire fighter for Brevard County Fire Rescue.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community? Why?
This is a very hard question, there are so many interesting people that live in or visit the Space Coast. If I have to pick THE most interesting person I’ve met in the community, it would have to be a gentleman by the name of Calvin Frazier. I met him when I first moved to the Space Coast. He was a mason who poured the concrete to form the first launch pads at the Kennedy Space Center. Little did he know at the time, but his work would lay the foundation for what we know the Space Coast as today.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Rescue Me

Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?
Go to medical school

Q: What is something on your bucket list? Why?
I want to finish getting my pilot’s license. I enjoy flying, and I like the freedom flying offers in that you can be in another state or part of the country in a matter of hours.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to? Why?
Gosh, this is a hard question because I appreciate all kinds of music. I regularly listen to anything from classical Mozart, to Metallica, to the Allman Brothers, to Snoop Dog. My satellite radio subscription gets a workout.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community? Why?
Ironically, both revolve around one of my favorite foods; Ice cream. First would have to be Del’s Freez. The second unfortunately just recently went out of business, and that would have been the Dairy Queen on Merritt Island. These two establishments have seen our Space Coast change in many many ways. They brought joy to the families who built the Space Coast and put us on the map.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
This is an easy one. I would choose to have lunch with Elon Musk. Not that I necessarily agree with all the things he does, but he is probably one of the most forward thinkers and influential people of our recent time. I don’t think I would want a discussion about any particular topic, just to see how he is able to always think big. I would probably like to meet someplace chill, like Lone Cabbage Fish Camp; I think he’d like the atmosphere; no pun intended

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I don’t think our freshwater fisheries get enough love. People come here for the offshore and inshore fishing, but forget about all the freshwater lakes, rivers and ponds that the Space Coast offers. If you are a bass fisherman, this is the place for you!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Hopefully semi-retired ; laughing; Seriously though, in 10 years, I hope that my medical practice has grown to a point where it can serve a substantial part of our community. I would like to be there in 10 years, still wearing my stethoscope, taking care of our residents.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I never brag, but I am an open book if you ask me. My close friends and colleagues know just about all there is to know about me. One thing people may not know, is that I was a paratrooper in the US Army.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10? Why?
I think I may have mentioned Amici’s, truffles sacchettini, but If I had to choose another 10 out of 10, it would be to walk the beach at sunrise on a cool summer morning.

Q: Who inspires you to be better? How?
I have many many mentors. It is hard for me to choose just one person who inspires me to do better. Probably the most influential mentor that consistently inspires me to do better is Dr. Francisco Guido-Sanz, who is an associate professor at the University of Central Florida. He continues to inspire me academically and has helped me become an adjunct professor at UCF.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family, relax, haven.
